Cheap, fun, and romantic places in Chicago this fall?

I’m planning a weekend trip to Chicago with my girlfriend, and we want to see the city but we don’t have much money. We have an amazing hotel in Downtown, and I’m hoping that we can find some things to do that are free or like really cheap. I can find our way around Chicago pretty easily and we want to ride the CTA train as much as possible.

We will be in Chicago at the end of September Our flight lands in Chicago at 8:45pm on Friday and we leave early Monday morning. I do have some activities planned. We are going to two museums on Sunday, and then we are going to Grant and Millennium park to take pictures. We’d like to have a romantic dinner somewhere on Sunday night.

We have no Idea what to do on Friday evening or all-day Saturday. My girlfriend and I both like poetry and we want to score some amazing pizza. We don’t like shopping, don’t have enough money to see a play, and we are both students. We might go to a club for dancing, but it would need to be 18 plus as she cannot legally drink yet. (i can)

What do you all suggest that two 20-something lesbians who are broke do in Chicago at the end of September? Are there any amazing fall festivities going on?

Ps: we’re from Minneapolis, we’re black, and we want the trip to be both fun AND romantic.

I’m interested in taking salsa dancing and I’ve never done it before! I used to do jazz and ballet but I want something new and SEXY! I’m looking for a “hole in the wall” or “underground” type atmosphere…where it’s very casual and people are just there to have a good time. No partners needed. Very simple as well since I’ve never tried this type of dancing before!

Also if you know of any salsa clubs that would be great!

Feel free to give me a good spot for hip-hop as well! That’s the next one I want to try.

Most likely in Minneapolis but my friend and I are looking for a fun place to dance to oldies music like disco! We are 16 so it has to be a 16+ night. I can’t find any good venues or clubs that have disco night or anything? Any help?

We are planing on heading up that way for a day and do some shopping but would like to hit the party scene later that night. Where is a good place to stay, how is the cab system? We do not want to be driving so a hotel that will not break the bank but is close to the party area would be nice. What places have some of the better drink specials? Where can you find a good dance club? Where are the single girls at?

I’m attending a college in (south, I think) Minneapolis starting August 22nd, and I was curious to know about some good music/dance places in that area. I’d be especially interested in places/clubs that have techno-type music, and have fancy light things going on, with maybe artificial fog or something. But it could be another type of club, also… And, I’m pretty shy about dancing directly with other people…But its still possible. Maybe a place where you don’t have to always dance? Just give me some ideas.

I will be there for a conference from October 2nd-6th with a co-worker and we are both laid back, enjoy new experiences, like to drink (socially), and are in the 30-35 year old range. We aren’t fans of the really loud dance clubs/bars, but do enjoy small quaint cultural pubs/hideouts with live performers and/or friendly crowds. Also interested in any outdoor and/or physical activities that could be suggested.

I’m a young university student, about to go to Minneapolis for a job. I was wondering, is the nightlife nice in Minneapolis? I’m especially interested in dance clubs, etc….
