Minnesota is in the heart of the Midwest. This state can be very cold or very hot depending on the time of year you want to visit. If you are looking for outdoor activities, art, music, and spending time in the states two largest cities, then you should plan a trip to Minnesota. The capital of the state is St. Paul. It is adjacent to Minneapolis and is home to art, music, and theater. If you enjoy going to plays, musicals, visiting art museums, and outdoor venues, then you will have to visit St. Paul.

Minneapolis is located across the river and is also home to many artistic and business ventures. People who live in the state of Minnesota are known for their kindness toward everyone that they meet. Once you visit Minnesota, you will want to visit again. If you have a family, this is a great place to vacation as there are many activities for children and adults.

For sports fans, visiting the Metrodome, the home to the Minnesota Vikings, is an exciting event. The enclosed dome makes for a comfortable way to watching a professional football game. Vikings fans are unlike any others and going to a home game is guaranteed fun for any visitor.

The Mall of America also attracts many people to Minnesota. It is the country’s largest mall and features over 400 stores. The mall is not only for shoppers, with great food choices and even amusement park type rides within the building. People travel from all over the world to experience the largest mall complex humans have witnessed. The mall keeps getting larger and provides jobs for over 1200 people in Minnesota.

Other cities in Minnesota include Rochester, Duluth, St. Cloud, and Minnetonka. These cities are not as large as St. Paul or Minneapolis, but they have their own unique charm. You will be able to eat in small diners, visit local historical attractions, and see the farmland. People in Minnesota participate in many outdoor activities that include hiking, fishing, hunting, boating, and others depending on the weather. Your family will have a great time visiting parks, seeing plants and animals in their own habitat, and more.

The nightlife in Minneapolis and St. Paul will allow you to unwind and have a good time. With many restaurants and bars in the area, you will be able to relax and meet some new people. There are also dance clubs and lounges that feature local music. Many famous musicians got their start playing in small clubs in Minnesota. The state has an appreciation for music that you will find appealing.

If you’re looking for a good slice of pizza or an entire pie, there are a lot of great local and chain pizza restaurants in the Twin Cities area. We may not have some of the classic places like say Chicago or New York may have, but we have a good selection of options. Here are a few of my personal favorites.

Punch Pizza

Punch Neopolitan Pizza is a Minnesota based Italian Pizza chain that prides itself on its homegrown ingredients and wood-burning pizza ovens. They try to strictly adhere to the Naples pizza style with centuries old cooking techniques and décor. If you’re looking for a Naples style pizza and the crisp taste of a wood-burning stove than you’ve got to try Punch Pizza. They have over 5 locations in the Twin Cities area so there is sure to be one near you.

Galactic Pizza

Galactic Pizza is probably more known for the way they delivery their pizzas than the pizza itself. According to the vision of Galactic Pizza, “When conditions allow, our food is delivered to your door using 100% electric vehicles” which means they often delivery their pizza in an arsenal of small, electric little go-cart looking vehicles. The drivers also are known to dress up in tight spandex like superheroes to add another fun twist to the boring delivery service. Besides the delivery method, Galactic is known for trying to run their small business as green and energy efficient as possible, as well as trying to purchase ingredients from local farms and even using hemp products to help the earth.

Pizza Luce

Now, Pizza Luce isn’t the best pizza around, it’s not bad either but it’s not going to make you write home to mom about it. What makes Pizza Luce, especially the downtown location, so special is its bar and its late night hours. Pretty much every weekend night around bar close you will find a line down the sidewalk of people looking to get a slice of pizza from Pizza Luce. You will often see cars leaving the club with bmw accessories as well as cops on horseback. It’s a great place to people watch and is often the scene of much drunken debauchery and revelry. Thanks, Pizza Luce.

The Twin Cities is home to a number of great venues for live music. No matter how big or small the band is there is a great venue in the cities to see them. Here is a list of some of the best live music venues in the Twin Cities.

Turf Club

This hidden gem in St. Paul off University and Snelling is the place to see your favorite local bands or the smaller, independent touring acts that aren’t big enough to play at a place like First Avenue. Turf Club is separated into two rooms, the main room and the lower level “Clown Lounge” where various DJs spin music in the comfort of the strange but fun decorated lounge. The only bad thing about the Turf Club is that even if you just want to sit at the bar or have a drink you oftentimes have to pay a cover price since they have live music every night. If you arrive well before the live music you can stay inside without having to pay a cover.

First Avenue

Still the best club and concert venue in the Twin Cities, First Avenue has stayed popular by having great music promoters and bookers as well as some of the best dance music nights in the Twin Cities. If you are looking to see your favorite electronic or rock band they are probably playing at First Avenue. The attached 7th Street Entry also hosts some of the big up and coming artists that you are sure to see fill the First Ave mainroom in a few years. Every Saturday night the popular Too Much Love dance night brings huges crowds to the mainroom and the upstairs VIP room is also popular among techno and electronic music fans with its guest DJs and house beats.

Triple Rock Social Club

In the heart of the West Bank, the Triple Rock Social Club is one of the consistently popular bars and live music venues because of its great sound and live show sightlines and its laid back bar. The great thing about Triple Rock is that you can drink in the bar for free and cross over to the live music room if you’d like. If the opening band is boring you can always hang out in the bar for awhile and then hop back over. The Triple Rock is known for its punk history but today is more home to fixie riding hipsters and tatted up wannabe punks but you’ll still see a few kawasaki motorcycle parts outside, so don’t feel deterred from checking it out. Most of the bartenders and regulars are friendly and they have a great pinball machine.
